What are they?
BoscoBucks are redeemable gift checks that can be purchased from the Boscobel Chamber of Commerce by any business or individual. These checks may then be used by the recipient to purchase items or services at any current Chamber member location.
BoscoBucks are printed stating they are payable to “Boscobel Chamber of Commerce Merchants” in any amount that the purchaser requests. Typical denominations purchased are in increments of $5, $10, $15, $25, $50, or $100.
At the point of issue, BoscoBucks are signed by two (2) members of the Boscobel Chamber of Commerce. We ask our members not to accept any check that does not have two (2) signatures located on the lower right on them. When the BoscoBuck is being used, each check must be endorsed by the person redeeming it.
The Chamber member then stamps it with the business name and deposits it into their account. If the amount of the BoscoBuck check exceeds the item purchase price, change may be given to the bearer; however, most businesses require that 75 – 95% of the face value of the check be used for the purchase.
A word of caution: these checks cannot be re-issued if they are lost or stolen.
Participating Chamber businesses are provided maroon placards to display near their cash register to help identify the business to the customer for redemption of the BoscoBucks.
